This interactive lapbook is a great way for students to independently self-regulate when they are upset. Emotional regulation is hard but this lapbook makes it easy and engaging. It can be used with or without a peace corner (or take a break space or calm down corner or calm corner or zen den!).

The lapbook allows the student to identify how they are currently feeling, what stategy(ies) they will use to calm down, and how they are feeling when they are done. There is also a guided breathing component (it’s more fun to take slow breaths when get to move a velcro piece, too!). For students that need reinforcement for choosing to self-regulate, a token board is also included. It’s an amazing scaffold to self-regulation! This resource is a great fit for trauma sensitive (or trauma informed) classrooms that allows students to have autonomy and feel empowered to help themselves.
You choose whether to include 5, 8, or 10 strategies in the lapbook. Limiting the options helps stressed/dysregulated brains from becoming overwhelmed! Consider letting your student help choose which strategies to include to increase their investment in using it.
