FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) is a U.S. federal law that protects the privacy of student education records in schools that receive federal funding. It gives parents and eligible students the right to access and review education records and generally requires written consent before a school discloses personally identifiable information from those records. These privacy rights transfer from parents to students when the student turns 18 or attends a postsecondary institution.
