Want to help your kindergarteners and first graders respect personal space and keep their hands to themselves? This resource is a developmentally appropriate set of personal space activities to help them: learn why personal space is important, learn how to look for face and body clues to see if someone is uncomfortable, and practice asking permission to enter someone’s personal space. It’s research-based social-emotional learning created specifically with primary students in mind.
Use these activities in one longer personal space lesson, one or two shorter lessons, or spread out in shorter bursts for a weeklong skills focus using the included pacing guide. Designed for teachers delivering SEL in their classrooms or school counselors teaching guidance lessons.
It is ASCA-aligned and CASEL-aligned! While created to use for whole group lessons, it is also wonderful for tier 2/small group counseling or social skills intervention.
