Dual processing theory
Dual Processing Theory explains grief as an ongoing movement between two types of coping: loss-oriented (focusing on grief and emotions) and restoration-oriented (adjusting to life changes and daily functioning). Healthy grieving involves shifting back and forth between these two processes rather than staying in one. This model helps normalize the changing nature of grief.
